Jorge Cueva, commonly known as Mr. Tempo, is a restaurateur and an inspirational figure in the Latin community who embodies this determination and resilience. Typically, society has shaped us to believe that it is only through conventional education that we can succeed in life. However, this was not the case for Mr. Tempo. At 18, he had no conventional education, and expressing himself in English was a problem. Armed with resilience and determination to make it in life against all odds, Mr. Tempo rolled up his sleeves and worked at jobs like washing dishes and cleaning bathrooms. Today, his hard work has paid off, and he is the successful owner of several restaurants that started from scratch.
To succeed in any industry, you must give it your all. Mr. Tempo attributes his success in the restaurant industry to 30 years of hard work, dedication, and patience. He believes being persistent and not giving up even after many failures have seen him thrive in the restaurant business. Mr. Tempo owns King & Queen Cantina, a modern Mexican cuisine incorporating Asian fusion, and has more than 130 restaurant openings under his belt. In the last four months, he opened new restaurants such as King and Queen Cantina West Hollywood on Robertson Boulevard, a popular area in Los Angeles. Additionally, he opened King and Queen Cantina Oxnard, Mr. Tempo Cantina Hollywood, and Mr. Tempo Cantina Gaslamp in downtown San Diego.
Mr. Tempo now takes pride as the owner of the most popular chain of restaurants in Southern California. He was recognized by Forbes Mexico as "the Michael Jordan of Restaurants." Mr. Tempo also shares business tips for everyone to keep growing and always tries to help others. He proudly represents the Latin community, who have continually celebrated his growth in the cuisine world.
However, it was challenging for Mr. Tempo to make it to the top. At times, negativity from the people around you can discourage you from pursuing success. Mr. Tempo had to deal with critics around him, who thought that his ideas and concepts would never work. Despite this, he always forged forward and does not let anything or anyone come between him and his dreams.
An established restauranteur, Mr. Tempo is a firm believer that hard work beats talent. He insists that anyone who wants to succeed in life can do so with many sacrifices along the way. He wants other people to know that through perseverance, results will show up sooner or later. In his case, it took 30 years to see results.
